
In the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, diOxygin was born. It all started during a tough time for our founder, Lindie Ferreira Cillié, and her siblings, as they grieved the loss of their dear parents. (You can read more about the story and what inspired the brand here.)
What started as a bit of an idea blossomed into a wonderful venture, with the creation of a unique gin aperitif, diOxygin. Lindie, ever the forward-thinker, always says the best way to get people talking is to get a “liquor on the lips,” and so began a journey that saw our bottles popping up at all sorts of events.

From swanky golf days to lively parties, and even getting a splash in Stellenbosch Visio magazine, diOxygin was making its mark. A particularly special moment was being a sponsor at the Paarl Boys’ High Old Boy’s Union ‘Legends Auction’ in 2023. It was a privilege to honour Espie (SP), the inspiration behind the brand, and his legendary days as a proud Paarl Boys’ High alumnus.


However, as time ticked by, diOxygin decided to evolve from an aperitif to a top-notch gin brand. This meant improving clarity by removing natural sediments, and increasing the alcohol percentage while maintaining the refreshing citrus taste. The result is a perfect, distilled craft gin. This change also came with a spiffing new label and logo design.
Our new label still proudly shows off our key ingredients – the spekboom and the queen mandarin. In a symbolic move, we’ve opted for a clean aesthetic by placing the entire label on the back of the bottle. This crystal-clear front symbolises our brand transparency and pure ingredients (we only use the finest natural ingredients, no added flavours).
As we move forward, diOxygin’s heart and soul are still firmly rooted in its beginnings, but we’re also embracing change and innovation. So, raise a glass with us as we toast to the past, enjoy the present, and look forward to the future, one sip at a time.
